Bob Clement, nashville
overview
The Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa was created in Nashville during the mid 70’s by legendary songwriter and producer, Cowboy Jack Clement. It was Nashville’s very first home recording studio. Artists such as Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Alison Krauss, Marty Stuart, Nanci Griffith, John Hartford and many more artists have recorded albums there through the years.
It truly was Nashville’s clubhouse for songwriters. Then in 2011, a tragic fire broke out in the attic studio that completely destroyed it which meant gutting the whole thing and starting all over from scratch. With dedication, friend Mark Howard re-designed and built the studio back in 2012. He made the cutting room slightly bigger, new isolation rooms, and added a bathroom and kitchen to the studio as well. Later in 2018, Cousin Bob Clement purchased the studio with the idea to bring the ambiance and sound quality back to it’s former glory.
So with the help of sound engineer Cameron Davidson and world renown studio designer Steve Durr, it’s now 2021 and they have re-created a nearly identical sound quality that made The Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa world famous decades earlier. Once again it has the same kind of vibe and sound that makes you want to stay a while and sing and play the day away.
