overview
Multi-Platinum artist Johnny Reid has taken residence in Nashville, purchasing Randy Scruggs’ former studio (Scruggs Sound), and renovating it into Soultrain Sound Studios. The studio had so much history, it was important to keep features that would make it feel familiar while giving the space a significant amount of modern upgrades. As important as the acoustics were, Johnny and his creative team had a vision of flexibility with the finishes and feel that came together beautifully with the interior and lighting design.
The original footprint was kept as much as possible, and it’s highlighted by a large tracking room with a 10’ window to the control room. The piano booth lives right off the tracking room, providing the ability to completely open up into one large recording space. A custom DMX lighting system throughout the whole studio can completely control the vibe and environment specific to each session. PMC MB2 monitors, an SSL 4000E and a gear alcove that would make any studio envious highlight the control room. The control room also features upgraded bass trapping and a custom cloud displaying the Soultrain logo.
Soultrain is a studio that can truly transform its vibe to the client. While the look and feel are , the sound of the studio remains beautiful and consistent, meaning everyone can absolutely trust that what they are hearing is accurate and true. Johnny’s vision based on an interior design standpoint was unlike anything we’ve worked on before, and we’re thankful he trusted us to take care of the acoustics. Soultrain was selected to Mix Magazine’s Class of 2020.
